Before entering the world of mixed martial arts, Dillon Danis was a very active competitor in the grappling and jiu jitsu world. Always looking for submission, Dillon blended a unique style of wrestling, with submission attacks and crazy scrambles. In this match he faced off against AJ Sousa at brown belt. Dillon countered a very common position known as the lasso guard with an innovative counter attack leading into a submission via kneebar. Danis became a BJJ fan household name after his 2014 brown belt run, through his eye-pleasing performances in some of jiu jitsu’s hardest tournaments, where he showcased a forward moving style which recognition in the sport. In 2016 Danis’ accomplishments led Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Conor McGregor to hire his services in the capacity of grappling coach ahead of UFC 202 ‘Diaz vs. McGregor 2’ event. Dillon currently trains at Unity Jiu jitsu in New York city with legendary grapplers such as Murilo Santana, Paulo Miyao, Joao Miyao and more. Dillon is also an undefeated fighter in the Bellator MMA promotion. He recently fought and was victorious at Bellator 222 via armlock. Dillon has had vocal social media beefs recently with some of MMAs top athletes including Jon Jones, Ben Askren & Tyrone Woodley.
